Bruce Visser

Bruce attended the Iowa School for the Deaf as a high school student and later graduated from NTID with degrees in Accounting and Data Processing. After doing some accounting work, he went back to school at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. He got his degree in Information Systems (computers) and worked for five years as a computer software developer for a consulting company. In the spring of 2001, Bruce joined the Lighthouse Deaf-Blind program as a computer teacher, offering training to increase work skills or personal independence. Using computers with a variety of software and adaptive equipment (Braille output and screen enlargement) Bruce teaches e-mail, word processing, and internet applications like on-line banking, shopping, and information research.

Bruce has been an active participant in Boys Town's research on Usher Syndrome type III. He enjoys traveling in the US and other countries and is always ready for a new adventure with his wife and their dog.
