Joey Graff came to her position at the Lighthouse in 2006. She grew up in Alaska and attended the University of Alaska Anchorage as a National Merit Scholar for a year. She then moved to Seattle, Washington and went to Seattle Central Community College to attend the interpreter training program and graduated in 1994. She went on to get her Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) interpreter certifications, CI and CT and still works as a freelance interpreter in the Seattle area. She also attended the University of Washington and earned 2 degrees in Women’s Studies and Neurobiology. Her first contact with the Deaf-Blind community was through the Mentorship Program at the Deaf-Blind Service Center and the weekend Deaf-Blind retreats offered by DBSC. She later volunteered at Seabeck Deaf-Blind Retreat and was hooked. Joey enjoys being involved with the Deaf-Blind community and is constantly working on skill development as a Deaf-Blind interpreter and mentor to other interpreters. She has also been very involved with WSRID, the state chapter of the RID in various capacities, most recently as president.

When she is not at the Lighthouse you will find this soon to be Mom out on walks with her two pugs, knitting, gardening and just trying new things with her partner in crime Tobias Cullins.
