Kristy Hoshi
Staff Interpreter

Kristy Hoshi grew up moving to many places, but resided predominantly in the Bay Area and Maui. She came to visit Seattle in 1992 and loved it so much she packed up her Maui home and moved a few months later. While completing general education transfer credits at Seattle Central Community College, she began her journey into the world of Sign Language and was warmly welcomed by the Seattle Deaf Community. She received her Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington in 1999, then worked as a software developer for a couple of years at Microsoft and later Expedia. Kristy is happy to have settled on a career that encompasses all the aspects she values in a job - analytical thinking and problem solving, interpersonal communication, and never ending opportunities for professional growth. After completing the Interpreter Training Program at American Sign Language Interpreting School of Seattle and being awarded national certification in 2007 by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, she has recently joined Seattle Lighthouse working as a Sign Language Interpreter. Outside of work she enjoys volunteering with her husband at various community events for Deaf children. She also loves attending live music and theater performances as well as camping, fishing, and spending time amongst good friends.
