Paula began working at the Lighthouse in 1984. She has been involved in the Seattle Deaf-Blind Community since 1980 volunteering with Deaf-Blind people in many capacities. In 1983 she graduated from the Interpreter Training Program at Seattle Central Community College. The following year she started working at the Lighthouse as the coordinator of Deaf-Blind Community Class. Paula has provided a variety of services in and out of the Lighthouse over the years including: serving on the 1984 AADB steering committee as part of the publicity sub-committee, working as an interpreter and SSP, directing the Deaf-Blind Retreat, coordinating a series of Retreats for Deaf-Blind Developmentally-Disabled adults, and directing the Lighthouse Deaf-Blind Program. Currently, Paula is the Director of Employee and Community Services (ECS) overseeing Lighthouse services for blind and Deaf-Blind people. She is also the Director of Governmental Relations and is responsible for our legislative education efforts: working with our representatives and senators on addressing critical service needs. For her contributions to the community, Washington State Deaf-Blind Citizens awarded Paula an Honorary Lifetime Membership.

Paula is also a mom of 2 wonderful sons and a grandmother to wonderful Adah. When she is not at the Lighthouse you might find her at a dance class, scuba diving or training for another triathlon.
